This is the top nose section of the shell only.

The body of the nose has three flame grooves and a clean surface. There is moderate pitting around the top of the nose section. The remains of the brass fuse is present with a stamped “NHS” on the rim.

The narrow base has a small area of white paint with black lettering that reads “GETTYSBURG.” This shell was recovered on private property behind the North Carolina state monument that is located on Seminary Ridge.  [ad]
