Very nice tight, clean, example of a 3 inch Hotchkiss canister round. The sides of the tin body are free from dings and dents. The top is nicely crimped around an iron plate and the bottom has a lead sabot. There is raised lettering on the bottom of the sabot that reads “HOTCHKISS 3 IN. JAN’Y 7, 1862 PATENT.”
The tin that is crimped around the top plate exhibits some light rust otherwise the condition is near perfect. [ad]
