Rare Schenkl case shot in excellent condition features a percussion fuse adapter which has been altered by carving to take a paper time fuse. It was most likely captured by Confederates, who would have altered the fuse. Shell has been excavated and professionally cleaned. There is some very, very light surface rust on one side, and virtually no pitting. Shell still contains case shot balls. Very fine condition Schenkl projectile.  [jt]
