Scarce bullet for the Starr carbine that was made by Johnston & Dow. While this bullet has a similar profile to Poultney’s bullet used in Smith and Gallager cartridges, it is different. Johnston & Dow made “waterproof & combustible” cartridges for the Starr weapons. This specimen is excavated, in very good condition, and has a beautiful patina.
