This is an excavated script “I” infantry button as used by the Confederacy. Coat size. Imported from England. Face is in very good shape with only the slightest dent under the serif at the top of the “I”. Otherwise the face is beautiful. The back displays portions of the maker’s backmark, “S. Isaacs Campbell & Co. London”. Shank is present and slightly leaning. This button displays a perfect dark brown patina overall. [jet]
