Here is a small piece of wood containing a fired Civil War bullet, the remains of a tree that was in the line of fire during the Battle of Cedar Mountain, Virginia.  The piece measures about 2 ½” long by 1” at its widest point. Bullet is firmly embedded in a small remnant of wood surrounding the round. A perfect view of the conical cavity is presented. The remaining wood surrounding the bullet solid and stable.  [jet]
