This excavated plate has a brass face with uncleaned green-brown surface patina. The detail on the eagle is good. The reverse has most of the lead fill. Both iron hooks have rusted off. The relic hunter wrote on the back, “CHANCELLORSVILLE OCT 85 / V CORPS SYKES DIV. / SLOCUM”.  A good “dug” breast plate.  [jet]
