RELIC U.S. ENLISTEDMAN’S WAIST BELT PLATE FROM SPOTSYLVANIA

$165.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 986-58

This excavated Pattern 1839 oval US belt plate has beautiful clean green patina. The brass face is very nice and the “US” stands out well. The plate’s reverse has 99.9% of the lead fill with some very minor pitting to the surface. The tongue is broken leaving both “puppy paw” hooks. The relic hunter wrote some notations on the back which are hard to decipher, but appear to read, “SPOTSYLVANIA / BURNSIDE / … / NYE RIVER / … / 9TH CORP”.  An original “dug” Civil War enlistedman’s belt buckle from Spotsylvania.   [jet]
