This pair of dug US .58 cal. Minie Balls was converted to pins for veterans and tourists. At the top is a circular 1 ¼” dia. pin with red lettering, “BATTLE OF CRATER / SOUVENIR / PETERSBURG, VA / July 30 / 1864”. Attached is a narrow red, white & blue section of cloth ribbon approx. 1 ½” in length. A small metal hook has been inserted in each bullet to allow it to be attached to the ribbon.  Both bullets are pinned to a cardboard mount with “SOUVENIRS / GENUINE BULLETS FOUND CIVIL WAR BATTLEFIELDS AT / PETERSBURG, VA”.  The pins themselves are in very good condition with minor soiling to the pin faces. The cardboard has been torn however and repaired with tape on the reverse.  [ld]
