This fragment is from the side of a Schenkl shell and runs from the nose to ¾ of the way down the tail. Fragment meas. approx. 8.00 x 3.00 inches. Fuse threads can still be seen on the nose end.
Nicely inked on the surface is “FRAGMENT 9LB SCHENKL” over a “US” in an oval with “MECHANICSVILLE, VIRGINIA.”
Fragment has been cleaned by electrolysis. [AD]
