From the famed Sydney Kerksis Collection [See Kerksis, PLATES & BUCKLES OF THE AMERICAN MILITARY]. Recovered from a 9th Army Corps site at Bethesda Church, Shady Grove Road. Clean smooth symmetrical face, exhibiting dark patina and one minor ding on its lower edge, w/light wear and scratching round the edges. Arrow hook reverse, with hooks and prong solidly attached. Lead backing chipped in spots w/dark grimy patina. Else VG. Excellent display piece, from a major collection. [JP]
