This excavated Pattern 1839 oval US cartridge box plate has a pretty brown patina. The brass face is smooth with central “US”.  The plate’s reverse has all of the lead fill. The two iron loops have rusted off. This relic was recovered at Harrison’s Landing.  An original “dug” Civil War enlistedman’s cartridge box plate.   [jet]
