This is an excavated specimen and this common size was for the 3” Ordnance rifle. This case shot shell was fired and retains its lead sabot and brass fuse adapter. The lead band shows nice evidence of rifling. Three flame grooves run along the body of the shell. The shell has a rusty surface but is stable with no active flaking.  Unknown recovery location.    [jet]
