Excavated stamped brass militia belt plate. Attractive design on face featuring a central star on a lined field. Smaller stars and a wreath run around the edge. Even brown patina. Retains very good shape as most sheet brass plates were susceptible to bends and folds. This specimen exhibits only one area where a fold was flattened. Back of plate shows solder marks from belt loop and tongue. A very nice example of this fragile style of militia belt plate. [jet]
