Excavated rifleman’s buckle. Found together with all four pieces. The model 1855 rifleman’s buckle consists of a two-piece brass buckle and two brass belt slides. These slides have holes on the top which allow the regulation infantry knapsack to hook into. This feature helped support the knapsack up on the shoulders.
All four pieces are complete and unbroken. All have matching green patina. Recovery location is unknown. A very nice, complete set. [jet]
