Old Antietam souvenir of a minie ball mounted on a 2 ½” square piece of wood. Upper edge of wood mount is beveled. Dropped .58 caliber minie ball is nailed to the wood block.
Original printed paper label on underside of wood exhibits some loss on the left and especially right side. It reads, “ANTIETAM / September 17, 186[2] / Presented July 1, 18[__] / BY / Shepherd Co[llege] / State Normal Scho[ol] / SHEPARDSTOWN / This wood was taken __ / [s]tanding on the ground a[__] / [__]f the Battle of Antieta[m] / [b]ullets were used at the sa[__.]” [jet]
