Excavated iron lockplate and hammer from an Enfield rifle. Complete with mainspring and all components. Moderate surface pitting from being in the ground, but has been nicely cleaned and preserved by electrolysis. Cleaned well enough that many details remain visible: double lines around edges, British crown behind hammer, and “1861 / TOWER” in front of hammer. Complete works remain in place on back of lockplate. The mainspring is broken and probably the reason it was discarded. [jet]
