RELIC LOUISIANA RECTANGULAR BELT PLATE

$2,750.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 33-252

This excavated belt plate is made of stamped brass. Face has Louisiana state seal of a pelican watching over the young in the nest. Patina is dark brown. Details are subdued from wear and ground action. Plate remains flat without any serious dents or bends.

Only one of the three brass hooks remain soldered to the back. A “drip” of lead near the hook suggests this may have been in a fire. Recovered at Cold Harbor, Virginia.

A truly rare plate in good, “dug” condition.  [jet]
