This is a stout tin cup that measures approximately 4 1/8” tall x 4 1/8” in diameter. Features a rolled lip at top and handle with turned edges. Handle is rivetted to the body top and bottom. There are two brackets rivetted opposite each other at the top edge. From these a wire bail is fixed. This would have been used to suspend the cup over a fire to boil the contents.
Light surface rust overall, otherwise a perfectly solid example of a cup/boiler as used by nearly every U.S. Soldier. [jet]
