This is the top portion of a 12-pounder C.S. cannon ball in relic condition.  The iron fragment still holds the bronze fuse adaptor that was screwed into it.  On the underside of the fuse a “Q” is clearly visible.  This is an inspector’s mark from Samson & Pae who manufactured artillery shells for the Confederacy.
