This C.S. frame buckle shows impact from something. The plate measures 64mm by 72mm and its central bar has been bent to one side and one edge of the frame has been bowed slightly. The excavator has written the name “Debottis” in black on the other bar; he was a known digger of the Wilderness battlefield. The damage certainly seems more than casual or accidental and might possibly be battle related. [sr]
