This is an excavated, iron picket pin. A regulation piece of equipment for cavalrymen. Used to stake-down a horse temporarily while on picket or grazing. Measures nearly 14” long overall. Iron “figure 8” loop swivels around the top. Slight bend to the point. Rusty surface but in very good and stable condition for a “dug” relic. Recovered at Stones River, TN. [jet]
