Relic trunk lock with brass key hole cover. Key hole cover features “D.M & Co.” Iron has light rust and even traces of black paint remaining. Brass has smooth green patina. Stable condition. Marked in white paint on front, “Antietam Battlefield / 6th Corps Camp / near Potomac River”.
Part of an old collection of Antietam Battlefield relics. Original collector/painter is unknown. All pieces from this group feature similar identifications done in a fine script with white paint. [jet]

This cavalry officer’s frock coat shows some signs of wear, but still rates very good for condition and has a great identification established by a wonderful Baltimore tailor’s tag sewn in one shoulder reading “T. McCORMICK, MERCHANT TAILOR,… (1179-639). Learn More »
