The most widely used Confederate fuse plugs were copper time fuse adapters with two spanner holes in the head. These fuse adapters came in various lengths and head diameters. This style was mainly used in spherical projectiles but have been found in rifled projectiles. This fuse adapter is stamped with the letter “F”; they are also found with the letters, “Q”, “C” and “I”, no doubt Southern Arsenal markings but still a mystery. The diameter of the head is thicker than average. [ws]
