This relic is the brass patchbox from a Model 1841 “Mississippi” rifle. This part was fitted into the shoulder stock at the butt of the rifle and measures 7 ½” overall. Brass exhibits beautiful green patina.
Initials are faintly engraved on the tang, “P H C”. Relic was recovered near Fredericksburg, VA. [jet]
