Here is the top portion of a Hotchkiss 3” artillery shell. A brass Hotchkiss fuse adapter remains in place. Iron is rusty and pitted and the brass fuse has a green patina as is to expected with an excavated relic. Recovered from Spotsylvania.  [jet]
