CONFEDERATE CANNONBALL FRAGMENT WITH FUSE FROM FORT DONELSON

$145.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 766-1331

Here is the top portion of a Confederate 12-pounder spherical case shot cannonball. The typical Confederate brass fuse adapter remains in place. Visible along the fracture line is the top of the “side-loading” hole where the case shot was loaded into the shell. Iron is rusty and pitted and the brass has a green patina as is to be expected from an excavated relic. Written in white paint across the top is “Ft. Donelson”.  [jet]
