Relic artifact of a folding measuring stick with remaining fragments of the original wood inserts still showing some of the measurement markings. This brass framed stick still unfolds out to its original length even after being buried for well over 150 years!! Found at Marye’s Heights in Fredericksburg, VA near Lee Ave.  Fully extended it measures 24”. No visible manufacturer’s marking. No doubt an instrument from a mapping case set.
