This is a very good condition pair of pre-Civil War era Wellington style civilian leather boots. The basic boot is made from three patterns, two sides and a front. The sole and heel are attached to the boot by wooden nails. The inside of the heel is reinforced by a piece of leather sewn to the inside. Each sole and heel has a series of dots stamped onto it that appear to be IIX. Each boot has two taps sewn to the top to assist in pulling the boot on the foot. They are 15 ¾ inches high and from the toe to the back of the heel is 13 inches. The leather has age cracks and a few minor flaking spots but it still remains soft and flexible.
