Very nice set of cased brush epaulettes. They come in the usual tin japanned tin case with numerous scratches on all sides. However the box is complete with latch and carrying handle.
Both epaulettes are in good condition. The bodies are made of padded ribbed gold cloth outlined with alternating rows of bright and dead bullion. The “clam shells” are made of bright, clean brass outlined with a double row of dead bullion.
Each epaulette has a pillow with a number “2” at center. The numeral is made of heavy gold bullion thread on a yellow felt field outlined in silver dead bullion and alternating strands of bright bullion. One of the pillows has light red staining in the area of the number.
Each rank field has gold bullion thread 1st Lieutenant’s bar with gold bullion outline.
Undersides of each epaulette is lined with red cloth and has a long thin iron hook. The lining on one epaulette is slightly torn under on “clam shell” with some padding exposed.
From one end of each epaulette hangs bright twisted gold bullion tassels. The condition is excellent. The only visible flaw is a tiny section of the silver bullion out line on the Captains rank has come loose.
