Issue & inspector stamping, “U.S. INSR/ CIN’TI. [Cinncinati Depot] O. [Ohio]. Made of cotton, featuring five gold and scarlet colors vertically striped - three gold, two scarlet. Measurements: 6’ fly, 4’ hoist. Its cloth is strong and intact, yet thin & fraying, with minor holes & numerous moth nips. Slight soiling of lower edge. Else VG & striking. This flag was part of the repertoire of foreign national flags issued to all US Naval vessels for rendering honors, both at sea and in foreign ports. Highly unique. Such flags are extremely scarce.  [jp]
