Beaver fur chapeau or bicorn. The crown has some light scattered fur loss near the top while the turned up side flaps have it more severely, especially around the base of the hat. The flap edges are bound in black tape that has worn along the top edges. The front flap also has two vertical lines of tape on each end while the back has none. The twisted bullion tassels are present at each side of the crown while the rest of the cord which would pass around the base of the crown is present but split.

The interior of the hat has a tall white leather sweatband that meas. approx. 2.00 inches high with a silver line decoration. The lining in the hat is of white polished cotton. Both the lining and the sweatband are in very nice condition.
