Dark blue wool kepi in good condition.
The body of this cap has moderate to light surface dirt and very little moth action. The recessed disc shows one or two light stains with one small moth bite while the base is in like condition. The leather visor has a bound edge and is still tightly attached to the cap. The leather chin strap is narrow and has the usual brass slider and a sewn leather keeper. The chinstrap is anchored by two General Purpose Eagle buttons.
The interior has a light brown sweatband that meas. approx. 1.50 inches high. This sweatband is still well anchored and shows staining from sweat from use. The sides of the interior have a brown cotton lining that stops at the base of the disc in the top of the crown.
This early Indian War period kepi is complete and shows light signs of having been used. This is a nice example of Indian War headgear.
