Fine black wool body over a cork inner body shell, with brass eagle plate, side buttons & plume holder. Original orange horsehair plume. Side buttons have crossed swords. Size 7/8. Manufacturer’s mark “Wm. H. Horstmann Co., Philadelphia” faintly stamped on reverse of leather sweatband lining. See Brass Spikes & Horsehair Plumes by Gordon Chappell. Came out of an auction in Germany in 2014, from the Robby Wilson Collection. Overall very fine condition, with just a few small, minor areas of wear to leather visor edge.
