Gilded front plate of Grand Dukedom of Baden. Baden was situated in the SW corner of Germany. The Baden Army was at the disposal of Prussia after 1890. This Pickelhaube was worn by Dragoons of Regiments 20 – 22. The fittings, including the distinctive pearl ring, indicates the helmet was worn by an NCO of one of the 3 Baden regiments ; also has squared front visor. Plain rear spine with extra middle securing stud was favored by the Dragoons along with the NCO “Kreugform Unterlage” (cruciform spike & base”).
