Pair of brass shoulder scales in excellent unused condition. The clamshells on these are stamped brass with a detachable lower plate for attaching tassels. The body of these scales is made of one solid piece of brass with stamped scalloped lines on its face. These lines are used to give the impression of multi-piece construction. The underside of each scale still has the attachment spar, brass anchor and turnbuckles. The underside of the brass spar on each is stamped “HORSTMANN PHILADELPHIA.”
Included with these scales is the original interior wrapping and the green cardboard box. One of the scales is still wrapped in the packing paper. The box has split at the seams and one section of the bottom has come loose and the lid is missing one panel. However, still on the front of the box is a paper label that reads “ONE PAIR SHOULDER SCALES HORSTMANN BROS.”
This is a very nice set in excellent condition.
