This pair of shoulder boards has a double thick embroidered gold bullion border made up of alternating rows of plain and bright bullion. There is also an inner and outer jaceron border of dead bullion. Center rank field is of dark blue velvet. The center of each rank field shows evidence of removed insignia. There are very small tears in the velvet in that area. Undersides are folded and sewn onto a thin leather base and wrapped in black polished cotton, which has some splits and small tears.
The straps exhibit the rank of 1st Lieutenant of Infantry with embroidered gold bullion. Each strap has a brown cotton lace sewn onto each corner, but one is missing and another has become separated. Overall condition is used, but very good.
Each strap measures 4 ½ " long x 1 ¾ " wide.
