Made of dark blue wool Satinet, these trousers are in overall good condition. They feature a 30" waist with a 31" inseam and measure 10" wide across the widest portion of the trouser leg. The unlined pants are cut full and feature a second layer of heavy wool cloth sewn to the inside of the trouser seat / thigh area. Trousers exhibit a 3 ½ " wide, off-white linen inner waistband. On this lining of the waistband are stampings or markings which read, “J.E.M., 20, X”. Waistband supports a watch pocket slit on the right side. There is also a pocket on the back right of the trousers.
Other features are a button-down fly that retains its four original tin and one brass 4-hole garment buttons, tightly sewn to the opening. Five tin buttons are stitched to the waistband. The button on the back left is missing, but the thread is present where it should be. Back side has its original wool belt adjuster band with an iron clasp. This clasp has a maker’s mark that reads, “D & Cie PARTS”. The reverse reads, “4860”.
Trouser leg areas, in front and in back, overall, exhibit various small moth nips and holes from insect damage. The most damaged area is at the top of the front of the left leg where there are larger holes. All trouser seam stitching is original and is in strong tight condition. Both inside trouser cuffs have the linen lining and hand-sewn hems.
