Pair of dress, bullion epaulettes for a lieutenant of the Forty-first Infantry in their tin carrying case.

Epaulette upper-surfaces feature silver bullion lieutenant’s bar and blue oval “pillows” with number “41”. Gilt ribbed strap with a single row bullion border, brass outer shell, with triple row of hanging bullion tassels, and staff buttons. Undersides are covered in red silk and red leather with shoulder cushions and brass fasteners.

The epaulettes exhibit very slight tarnish. Undersides are in good shape with moderate wear to the silk on the “pillows”. Overall epaulette condition, VG to fine.

Carrying case is in very nice condition. Japanning on outer surface has been removed and replaced by an attractive paint scheme of brown and tan with a dark “speckle” overall. The interior of the case has been lined in red paper. Complete with handle and side clasp fastener.   [jet]
