Blue ribbon which meas. approx. 2.00 inches wide x 5.50 inches long. Sliver printing reads “REUNION 24TH REGIMENT, CONN. VOLS. MIDDLETOWN, SEPT. 24, 1913.” Above the lettering is a spread-winged eagle.
Reverse has a thin strip of cardboard glued to it and the original pin remains. All printing is badly faded.
Six Companies of the 24th Connecticut were recruited in Middlesex County with four others coming from New Haven, Harford and Fairfield Counties. The regiment was raised in the fall of 1862 to serve 9 months. It was sent to Louisiana where it was assigned to the 19th Corps. The regiment saw action Port Hudson where they lost 71 men killed, wounded and captured. They were mustered out October 2, 1863.
