Badge consists of three bars and a drop. Each bar has a black outline with circular decoration on each end. The reverse of the badge still has the pin and original blue ribbon attached.
The center of the top most bar is stamped “CO.F.” Suspended by one chain link at each end is another similar bar that bears the number “151.” The third bar is suspended like the one above it but is stamped “PENN’A.” At the very bottom is a shield shaped drop outlined in black like the bars above it. Stamped at center are crossed rifles with bayonets fixed and the lettering “VOL. INF.”
Badge is in very good condition. Ladder badges are seldom encountered with the ribbon intact.
The 151st Pennsylvania Infantry was a 9 month regiment that saw action at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg with the 1st Corps of the Army of the Potomac. During its service the regiment lost 3 officers and 120 men killed, died of wounds and disease.
