These 8 bronze medals are what is known as “Table Awards” and were given out to civic groups, school children and Legion members to foster patriotism. The medals come in a very nice 11.00 x 9.00 x 3.00 inch wood display case.

The medals are all circular and of various sizes.

Top row left to right they are as follows:

1.)    AMERICAN LEGION 50TH ANNIVERSARY MEDAL 1919-1969 - 2.50 inch medal has spread-winged eagle at center with the American Legion crest on its chest. In its talons the eagle holds an olive branch and at bottom are the words “50th ANNIVERSARY.” Reverse has raised lettering that reads “FIFTY YEARS FOR GOD AND COUNTRY 1919-1969.”

2.)    WORLD WAR ONE SCHOOL AWARD – 3.00 inch medal produced by the Medallic Art Co. in 1922 and awarded to a student for academic achievement. Obverse has Doughboy and Sailor back to back holding their weapons in the “On Guard” position. In raised lettering around the edge is “FOR GOD & COUNTRY.” The bottom edge has “SEMPER FIDELIS” or “ALWAYS FAITHFUL.” Reverse has a spread-winged eagle at top perched on a scroll that reads “AMERICAN LEGION SCHOOL AWARD- COURAGE, CHARACTER, SERVICE, COMPANIONSHIP, SCHOLARSHIP.” At bottom is the American Legion crest in a sunburst.

3.)    PATRIOTIC SCHOOL AWARD – 2.50 inch medal produced by the Medallic Art Co. in 1925 and awarded to a student for academic achievement. Obverse has a woman holding an American flag on a pole which she is looking at adoringly. In raised lettering around the edge is “FOR GOD AND COUNTRY.” Under the word “AND” in smaller lettering is “SEMPER FIDELIS” or “ALWAYS FAITHFUL.” Reverse has a spread-winged eagle at top perched on a scroll that reads “AMERICAN LEGION SCHOOL AWARD- COURAGE, CHARACTER, SERVICE, COMPANIONSHIP, SCHOLARSHIP.” At bottom is the American Legion crest in a sunburst.

4.)    VIETNAM WALL COIN – 1.50 inch coin made under the auspices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Obverse depicts a man viewing the Vietnam Wall Memorial. Leaning against the wall is a US flag on a staff and a cross. Upper part of the coin reads “VIETNAM / THE WALL.” Reverse has the VFW crest.

5.)    AMERICAN LEGION 50TH ANNIVERSARY COIN 1919-1969 - 1.50 inch coin has spread-winged eagle at center with the American Legion crest on its chest. In its talons the eagle holds an olive branch and at bottom are the words “50th ANNIVERSARY.” Reverse has raised lettering that reads “FIFTY YEARS FOR GOD AND COUNTRY 1919-1969.”

Obverse has an American soldier standing at “PARADE REST” flanked by kneeling armed Airman and Sailor. In the background is a marching column of men wearing the early war Doughboy type helmet. In raised lettering around the edge is “FOR GOD & COUNTRY.” The bottom edge has “SEMPER FIDELIS” or “ALWAYS FAITHFUL.” Reverse has “AMERICAN LEGION SCHOOL AWARD” at center over an open book, lamp, quill pen and the American Legion crest with “COURAGE, CHARACTER, SERVICE, COMPANIONSHIP, SCHOLARSHIP” along the edge.

7.)    AMERICAN LEGION BRONZE LOGO – 3.00 inch one sided medal featuring the American Legion crest. Item was produced by the Medallic Art Co. in 1983

8.)    KOREAN WAR ERA MEDAL – 2.50 inch medal produced by the Medallic Art Co. Obverse has an American soldier standing at “PARADE REST” flanked by kneeling armed Airman and Sailor. Behind them is a female airman and a female sailor holding a phone. In the background is a marching column of men wearing the early war Doughboy type helmet. In raised lettering around the edge is “FOR GOD & COUNTRY.” The bottom edge has “SEMPER FIDELIS” or “ALWAYS FAITHFUL.” Reverse has “AMERICAN LEGION SCHOOL AWARD” at center over an open book, lamp, quill pen and the American Legion crest with “COURAGE, CHARACTER, SERVICE, COMPANIONSHIP, SCHOLARSHIP” along the edge.

Medals are in excellent condition.

Frame is held closed by a wood backing anchored by six screws. Item comes ready to hang on the wall.
