Orange cloth pennant meas. approx. 8.00 inches on the hoist x 18.75 inches on the fly. The pennant was produced with a squared off end instead of the usual point. An orange string runs through a sleeve on the hoist edge for attaching to a pole.
The face of the pennant is decorated with lettering done in silver paint which reads “29TH DIVISION” over “FRANCE.” This is followed by a blue and gray yin-yang which was the division’s insignia.
The pennant and the paint has faded a bit over the years from use and storage. Paint loss is minor. All lettering and the insignia are easily discernable.
Bottom edge has a 4.00 inch curl near the point which can easily be relaxed.
The 29th Infantry Division has become well-known for their part in leading the D-Day assault at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. From Normandy to the end of the war the Division suffered 20,620 casualties. [ad]
