1901 GAR RIBBON – DEPARTMENT OF OKLAHOMA NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT

$195.00

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 1054-444

GAR ribbon for the Annual Encampment of the Department of Oklahoma, held in Blackwell, OK from May 22nd-24th 1901. Fine scroll work on the pin, which also affixes a red, white and blue silk ribbon with the round GAR pin at center.  Ironically, Blackwell is named for Confederate cavalry veteran A. J. Blackwell and is located in the north-central portion of the state.  Light discoloration near the lettering, and the fringe at the bottom of the ribbon shows some matting.  Overall a bold and beautiful ribbon.  Manufactured by Whitehead and Hoag of Newark, NJ.  Manufacturer’s tag lists their patents for GAR badges.  Western state GAR badges and ribbons are especially scarce.   [JC]
