White ribbon meas. approx. 2.50 inches wide by 6.00 inches long. At center is a red, white and blue 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, 2nd Corps flag on a golden pole within a golden sunburst.
Across the top of the ribbon is a blue bar with a row of 13 white, five-pointed stars. Below this is “PHILADELPHIA BRIGADE ASSOCIATION” done in alternating red and blue thread.
Under the flag is “RICHMOND VA. OCTOBER 5th 1888.” This is also done in alternating red and blue thread.
All colors are bright and the ribbon is in overall excellent condition.
The Philadelphia Brigade consisted of the 69th, 71st, 72nd and 106th Pennsylvania Infantry and bore the brunt of Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863.
The ribbon commemorates the Philadelphians being invited to Richmond for the unveiling of a monument to Pickett’s Division. [ad]
