Hat size 7 ¼. Two maker-marks, stamped on the inner leather band: “Wander/ B.F. & Co/ Beats the world style comfort durability” and “COLUMBIA”.
Standard slouch shape with center crease. Made of GAR regulation black felt, rich and fine. Exhibits two unobtrusive, .25” spots on upper front brim---and a slight touch of rubbing on the left front edge of the brim. Otherwise clean & attractive with slightly dusty patina. Narrow black outer ribbon is tied in Span-Am war style bow, resting beneath a fine black & gold hat chord with bullion slip knot & acorn tassels. Medium coppery GAR wreathed crest attached above. Two small circulation vent holes neatly cut and placed symmetrically on the sides. Inner brown leather hat band measuring 2” in width, with stitching tight and intact, and one tiny worn spot in the very rear. Else fine. Superb GAR collectible. Magnificent display piece, that may also be worn [if sparingly]. Nicely priced.
