This is the standard GAR membership badge worn by all regular members of that organization. At top is a brass spread-winged eagle over crossed cannons with a stack of cannonballs at bottom. The reverse of the eagle is plain but does have an operating pin. Suspended from this upper piece is a US flag ribbon meas. approx. 1.00 inch long. Attached to the ribbon is a drop of a brass five-pointed star with the GAR Coat of Arms at center. The reverse of the star exhibits all of the known Corps Badges of the Union Army.
The surface of the item does exhibit some dirt from age and storage and the ribbon is frayed in two places on the back.
