Ca.  1910-20. No maker insignia other than a gold “trade mark” stamping on inner crown. Navy blue felt wool, with brass chin-strap buttons, chin-strap, and gilt G.A.R. “471” crest mounted at the front.  3” crown. Hard stiff leather bill, measuring 6” in width, 1.25” in depth. Brown leather hat band. Hat size approximately 6 ¾.

Wool exhibits slight wear with light traces of mothing at the rear; else fine and rich. GAR crest & strap buttons fine and sharp. Chin strap fine, with bill displaying a few minor nicks on right side edge. Inner cotton lining and leather hat band also in fine condition. In all, a superb piece for Pennsylvania G.A.R. aficionados.
