This black ribbon meas. approx. 2.50 inches wide x 7.00 inches long. The top has a solid printed silver border with a decoration of triangles and stars. Below this in silver is “IN MEMORIUM.”
Printed on the body of the badge is a large GAR membership badge with a silver eagle and star with a full color inked flag. Across the bottom in silver lettering is “ANDREW MATHER POST NO.14, PARKERSBURG, W.VA.” Across the very bottom is a laurel leaf motif border.
The ribbon is in good condition but has a repaired split at the top. This split was repaired by scotch tape on the back.
Andrew Mather for whom this GAR Post was named was a Captain in the 14th West Virginia who was killed at Winchester on July 24, 1864.
