Ribbon measures 9” x 2 ½” overall. Celluloid seal at top with pin on reverse; attached to red, white and blue silk ribbon edged in gold bullion.  Silver lettering on ribbon reads, “GEORGE D. HARTER POST. NO. 555, G.A.R. CANTON OHIO”. Gold bullion fringe attached at bottom.

Reverse is black silk with gold lettering which reads, “IN MEMORIAM, GEORGE D. HARTER POST, NO. 555, G.A.R. CANTON, OHIO”.

Overall very good condition; some surface dirt present and silk ribbon has splits in the red and blue color. No date given.

The G.D. Harter GAR Post No. 555 was chartered in 1893, 3 years after Harter’s death. This ribbon would be dated between 1893 and 1914. Harter was in the 115th OVI.  [sm]
